National Coalition Requests Increased Funding for Federal Child Care Assistance

February 1, 2018

Today, the National Women’s Law Centerdelivered a letter, signed by NHSA and more than35 other national organizations, to the leadership of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees asking them to increase funding for the Child Care and Development Block Grant by $2.9 billion for fiscal year 2018. This increase would provide nearly 230,000 additional low-income families with high-quality child care assistance so they can develop the education, skills, and employment opportunities to reach their full potential and build flourishing communities. The letter also requests that the committees lift the budget caps on non-defense discretionary spending and increase federal funding for education, health, and human service programs.
