Benefits
-
Learning Networks: The Assembly offers peer networks for people in a
variety of positions at national organizations—COOs, CFOs, HR
Directors, and more. Some meeting once or twice a year, others more often.
These typically become a network of 15-30 close associates who learn
together and call upon one another for the latest information.
-
Leadership Development: Each year, the Assembly offers different kinds
of leadership development opportunities for different groups among its
membership, e.g., a fellowship for emerging and diverse leaders; a two-day
leadership institute for CEOs and board leaders.
-
Collaborative Policy Work: The “Washington Group” engages
policy staff from member organizations in developing and pursuing a shared
agenda, with different agencies leading the way in their areas of interest
and expertise.
-
Big-Picture Affinity Groups: Most organizations join the Assembly, in
great part, to join with others in effecting systems change—improving
conditions for those in need and improving service delivery for them.
Currently, interest areas include children and youth (addressed by the
National Collaboration for Youth, a coalition supported by the Assembly;
family strengthening; and nonprofit workforce development. The Assembly and
its members also address other issues, e.g., aging, health) by supporting
the work of sister coalitions.
-
Sector Developments: Assembly newsletters and websites are where to
look for information on developments in the sector. The Assembly serves as
an aggregator and disseminator of information, aggressively seeking out and
digesting information from diverse sources so members can find much of what
they need in one place.
-
Group Purchasing: Through a subsidiary called National Assembly
Business Services, the Assembly makes available to members and their
affiliates a diverse array of products and services at deeply discounted
rates.
-
Compensation & Benefit Data: In partnership with another
association, the Assembly produces an annual assessment of compensation and
benefit information on key positions at national health and human service
organizations.
