Official IRS overview of the AOTC – an educational credit for tuition and expenses for undergraduate students that’s worth up to $2500.

Child Tax Credit IRS Fact Sheet
Official IRS overview of the CTC – a credit up to $1000 per qualifying child for any worker who earned more than $3000 in 2009.

The official US Department of Health and Human Services LIHEAP page provides a general overview of the benefit program, including a state-by-by state listing of services.

The LIHEAP Clearinghouse
A federally-sponsored web-based, information service that oversees the NEAR project along with the National Center for Appropriate Technology, which is geared to LIHEAP service providers. The Clearinghouse is a great source of workplace outreach materials and additional information on how to assist your employees.

The Campaign for Energy Assistance
The Campaign for Home Energy Assistance is a coalition representing advocates for LIHEAP -- both social service agencies and utility associations. Visit the Campaign’s website for a list of helpful resources and additional information about the LIHEAP program.

Homeownership Preservation Foundation
An organization that connects homeowners with HUD-certified housing counseling agencies and experts through The Homeowner's HOPE™ Hotline at 1-888-995-HOPE™.

Making Home Affordable Official Site
Homeowners at-risk for losing their homes can quickly and privately find out if their eligible for either the Home Affordable Modification Program or the Home Affordable Refinance Program using a federally-sponsored online screening tool.

Hope for Homeowners Official Site
Employees can find out detailed information on the Hope for Homeowners program through the official HUD/FSA-sponsored site.

National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program
A website sponsored by HUD and administered by NHSA member, NeighborWorks® America, which has a searchable list of local housing counselor agencies and other helpful resources.

Hope Now
An alliance between counselors, mortgage companies, investors, and other mortgage market participants including NeighborWorks® America and another one of NHSA’s members, Catholic Charities USA. The alliance works to help as many homeowners as possible through coordinated, strategic outreach.

Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)

North American Council on Adoption Services State Fact Sheets
Parents who have adopted children with “special needs” – such as physical or metal disabilities, belongs to specific minority groups, etc. – from the child welfare system may have a range of state-based financial supports. The Medicare Rights Center Website
The Medicare Rights Center is a national, nonprofit consumer service organization that works to ensure access to affordable health care for older adults and people. Their website includes offers easy to understand answers to questions about Medicare and even provides the Medicare Interactive tool, which provides screening or the program: http://www.medicarerights.org/about-mrc/

Supplemental Security Administration Site
SSI is available for seniors who or disabled or living on very-limited financial resources as well as “seriously” disabled children under 18. To apply online or learn more about this program, employees can visit: http://www.socialsecurity.gov

Official Temporary Assistance to Needy Families Program Site
TANF is a federally-funded financial support program that supplies families with no or very low-incomes with temporary cash subsidies. In general, most employed persons will not meet the eligibility criteria for TANF, but some part-time lower-wage earners may be able to receive limited, short-term assistance. US Department of Veterans Affairs Benefits Page
There are numerous benefits aimed at supporting veterans – from medical assistance to educational funds and help paying for a home.
