The National Collaboration for Youth and Girl Scouts of the USA hosted a webinar on Beauty Redefined: The Future of Girls Body Image, Health and Media. Program, Research and Policy staff at Girl Scouts of the USA shared how the childhood obesity epidemic has caused girls to be caught in a double bind—on one end they hear that children are overweight today and that is unhealthy and unattractive—on the other end of the spectrum they see images of girls and women who are super-thin and over-sexualized. Due to the overwhelming response we had to this webinar and topic, Girl Scouts and the NCY have decided to host a webinar on this topic again (for all those who missed today’s and were on the wait list) on Wednesday, June 30th, from 2-3 PM.
